Way back in 1963,
A local boy band made history
An instrumental with sounds of waves,
They played “Bustin’ Surfboards” and started a craze.
Surf music went wild– it was ever so thrillin’!
Their song topped the charts – sold over nine million!
They performed everywhere, and, as years went by,
Their fame did fade, but it didn’t die!
Then John Travolta was dancin’ the twist
To a familiar tune, you couldn’t resist.
Again life was a sundae, and the band maraschino.
Thanks to a film by Quentin Tarantino.
“Bustin’ Surfboards” was the hit movie soundtrack!
Thirty years later, they’d made a big comeback!
Forever remembered in Surf Music Hall of Fame.
That’s their story, what’s their name?
Sponsored by A.K. Smiley Public Library Young Readers’ Room, the Rochford Foundation-Burrage Mansion and the Redlands Daily Facts.
