The 90th anniversary of the Lincoln Memorial Shrine’s 90th anniversary will continue on Saturday, November 19 with a day of festivities.
Taking place on the 159th anniversary of Abraham Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address, the day begins with a commemoration of that famed speech at 11am in Smiley Park. With the assistance of renowned Abraham Lincoln presenter Robert Broski, the participation of Camp Carleton Band and Mountain Fifes & Drums, the program will memorialize Lincoln’s legacy. The museum will open following the program’s conclusion.
Later in the day, Steven Spielberg’s Lincoln will be screened in Smiley Library’s Contemporary Club at 2pm. The free program will be the last in the Shrine’s “Lincoln in Film” series, which featured movies depicting Lincoln’s life. Shrine staff will be on hand to discuss the film at its conclusion.
